The parking surface is compacted volcanic gravel, and spaces are unmarked — attendants direct traffic during peak periods. No overnight parking is permitted, and the lot clears completely by 15:30 when the park closes. Coaches occupy a separate area, but their presence reduces available car spaces during cruise ship season. The mountain road remains open year-round barring exceptional weather, but winter ice occasionally closes the upper section without advance notice.
